Kurilpa Reach are an enigmatic 7-piece band born out of Meanjin’s (Brisbane) vibrant music scene. Blending the writing sensibilities of indie rock and neo-soul with elements of roots, rock and reggae, KR have established themselves as a versatile artistic powerhouse with a knack for levelling any live crowd they get put in front of.
Since their initial formation in early 2017, Kurilpa Reach have released 2 critically acclaimed EPS, along with 6 singles, culminating with their debut album release in 2023, ‘Our House on Home Street’. The album showcases the musical diversity of the band, boasting rootsy reggae tracks, punchy love songs, emotional ballads, and more experimental groove-based tunes. The band celebrated by touring this album for a 12-show tour down the east coast of Australia, culminating in a huge show almost selling out Brisbane’s iconic venue, The Zoo. In addition to hundreds of Australian shows, KR are making their foray into New Zealand, through a seven-show tour in Jan of 2023, followed by another visit across the ditch in Jan 2024.
Along with playing their own shows, Kurilpa Reach has made a name for themselves as an exceptional live band at festivals including Woodford Folk Festival, Caloundra Music Festival, Earth Frequency and Island Vibes Festival. In addition, they have supported some incredible Australian and International acts of all genres, displaying their versatility in live performance. Some notable examples were supporting South Summit on four of their national tour shows, Caravana Sun, Tijuana Cartel, Peach Fur and Shag Rock, as well as incredible New Zealand artists including The Black Seeds, Muroki, Masaya, and Strangely Arousing.
