Brisbane-based Kooii are a band pushing boundaries in contemporary Australian music with their rhythm-driven fusion of Afrobeat, Reggae and Funk. With two critically acclaimed albums already under their belt, over the last ten years they’ve consistently blown audiences away with their compelling world music, which is superbly crafted through the soulful voice and award-winning compositions of singer/trumpeter, Peter Hunt.
The new EP ‘Call Out’, is released this week. Kooii serve up yet another offering of pulsating tunes and expert songwriting. The 4 track EP features the new single ‘Kick It’.
On stage, the seven piece KOOII deliver a dynamic live show made for dancing, delving from the hypnotic depths of Reggae rhythms into Afrobeat grooves via some Malian desert blues. With such a distinct style, Kooii’s music is genuinely original.
Kooii have supported many big name acts and played at most major festivals both in Australia and New Zealand.

“Kooii. My favourite Australian band. So heavy that when I see them play live I feel like giving up music. Maybe I could carry their gear.” Matt McHugh — The Beautiful Girls
